It took me a bit to get used the scooter. I'm a nervous person by nature so I was shaking the first like 5 miles but after that I kind of liked driving it.
Then when we were about 10 minutes from the apartment disaster struck. Mat over corrected his scooter and flipped it. I screamed his name (which I don't remember doing) and basically jumped off of my scooter. As soon as he got up he said, "I broke my ankle!".
Both Mat and I had our first ride in an ambulance yesterday. Not what I was expecting on our first day in Oahu. Now we thought he was just going to have to get a cast with crutches, but no he had to get surgery to put a rod in his leg. Holy shit, a rod in his leg!
The surgery went great and now we just have to wait to hear from PT about how much weight he can put on it. That will dictate if he needs a wheelchair, crutches, or my personal favorite, a walker.
Thank God for him only hurting his leg, having a great hospital, and great doctors.
He biggest silver lining is that he doesn't want a motorcycle anymore. Right now we are just watching tv in his room waiting for his pain meds to kick in. Here's to hoping he can leave tomorrow.
Peace out cub scouts.
